This course, the first in the Total Guitar Improvisation series, will teach the major scale from the ground up. The class will approach the major scale in three ways:
1. Music theory: To explain what the major scale is 2. Technique: To show you how to play it 3. Application: Revealing how to use it in solos
Topics include the bare essentials of music theory, plus how to play a scale with a rhythm, using down-up picking, what playing in a “position” means, playing a solo over a chord progression, and playing a scale pattern in different keys. This course is recommended for the beginning-intermediate level guitarist who is ready to start their journey in learning lead guitar in any style. Some prior experience reading TAB is helpful. A metronome is recommended.
