This course is designed to get the beginning guitarist playing rock guitar right out of the gate, skipping the traditional music reading, one-string-at-a-time note-learning methods in favor of diving right into rock rhythm guitar. That sound you get with a distorted power chord combined with bass and drums is hair-raisingly cool, and if you’re just starting guitar and want to know how to do that, you’re at the right place. The class will cover a number of topics including tuning, learning the names of the notes in first position, power chords, using slash notation to read quarter notes, half notes and triplets, avoiding excessive string noise, palm muting, major chords, 12-bar rock blues, and moveable power chords.
