Ben Coker, a multi-faceted musician on several instruments, is an active guitarist in various bands in the Tidewater area of Norfolk, VA. Currently he is the lead guitarist for the Navy rock band “Four Star Edition” and is instructor-qualified for Guitar and Improvisation from the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia Beach.
Ben attained a Bachelor of Music in classical guitar performance from the University of Georgia in 1991. Originally from Atlanta, he has taught all styles of guitar lessons since 1986 and performed and toured with several rock, top 40/dance, jazz and R&B groups and individuals such as Archie Bell, Dennis Yost, Percy Sledge, and Shaun Nielson (former backup singer w/Elvis). Ben’s electric guitar influences that have helped shape his sound include Eddie Van Halen, Steve Morse, Larry Carlton, Scott Henderson, Alan Holdsworth, and John Scofield.
